Wicking Bed Workshop

Learn about how to build a self-watering raised garden bed

Sunday, July 28th // 9:00am - 12:30pm

What to Expect:

In this workshop you will learn about how to build a self-watering raised garden bed.
Wicking beds have many benefits, they are great for small space gardens, can be planted at a higher density, are low maintenance and conserve water.
We will delve into the principles behind the wicking action and explore different styles of beds.
What grow medium to use, how to maintain the heath of the system, what plants to grow in and pest protection amongst other aspects.
Wicking beds are more productive than standard garden beds. They are highly water efficient due to limited evaporation.
They use 90% less water than standard raised garden beds.
Drain exceptionally well during big storm events, hence no waterlogged soils.
On average will only require a water top-up once a fortnight in summer and once a month during winter if building with the highest water holding reservoir capacity.
They can look really stylish without costing the earth.
